How Men Can Style Nigerian 'Senator' Outfits

How Men Can Style Nigerian 'Senator' Outfits

While the general rule of thumb for dressing between males and females is not the same due to body types, lines and proportions, they are also not contradictory. If that is the case, it naturally means that height, shape, fat distribution etc. contribute to what flatters a man whether he is wearing a suit or any traditional outfit.

Everything is not automatically perfect because your outfit is tailored. Instead, tailoring allows your designer to learn about your body more and customize your outfits, accurately.

Here are a few tips to help you wear fashionable Nigerian Senator styles:

  • Mind your height and know the illusion to create.

If you are tall (depending on the country average by the way) you can go scot-free with a lot of things because your height will flaunt whatever. If you are above 5ft9" then you are in this safe zone.

If you are of average height, you can get away with playing around too. Your height determines where the length of your top stops. If you are not so tall, a long top will make your upper body look longer and your legs look shorter. If you have very long legs and a short upper body, long tops will create an illusion of balance.

  • What would you like to show off?

It is not particularly flattering to jump into a bodycon Senator, everything is skinny from top to bottom and we are unsure if it is a style or you were short of fabric.

Your body is hot no doubt but you cannot show us everything at once. Leave our imagination to roam on your behalf.

If you want to show off your 'Mazi stomach' by all means do and look like an importer/exporter but it should not be skinny all around or so large we assume you borrowed the cloth.

The idea of tailor-made designs is for you to be measured and sewn for. Senators are tailor-made. So make sure it has that result.

  • Alternate colours that suit your skin

It is okay to have a favourite colour but step out of your comfort zone sometimes. Try out brighter or darker colours. Before you conclude it will not work, try it out!

Find someone with your skin tone who has tried it and see the result or better, hire a stylist for your body profiling.

These three generic guidelines always work.

  1. Height
  2. What to show off
  3. Colours and skin tone.
