Make Everything Look Good On You
It is not uncommon to see a trendy style on someone and think "Why does it look off?" Well, it does look off sometimes because it does not fit. It does not fit that body type, it is not correctly tailored or it did not take into account the occasion (this is styling, not a tailoring problem).
Humans do not have one body type; there are varying shapes and sizes within those general shapes and unique ways of styling each body so it is counterproductive to dress all bodies the same way. The same principle applies to your face or your feet.
This makes ‘copy and paste’ an unproductive styling technique if you have no knowledge of the basics and do not understand the results you are trying to achieve from copying.
I believe it is not uncommon to see a trendy style on someone and think "Why does it look off?" Well, it does look off sometimes because it does not fit. It does not fit that body type, it is not correctly tailored or it did not take into account the occasion (this is styling, not a tailoring problem).
When we understand this, we will all stop trying to wear the same styles. All females will not be hourglass shaped just as all men will not be 6ft tall with broad shoulders. Once we get past this hurdle, then we are ready to DRESS UP!
Style is not the clothes you wear, it is how you wear those clothes and tell your story. Can I see you dress up for a month and tell what you like, affiliate with, and have a passion for? If not, there is a possibility you have been jumping into everyone else’s wardrobe but your own. This does not mean styling is rigid; it just means styling is YOU!
The world is a place of brand expression. As a person, you are a brand. What are you expressing? Can we meet you by what you wear? I am not asking you to wear Armani, Louboutin, or Kiral. I am asking you to let us meet your preferences and opinions.
Your bum does not have to be large, your chest does not have to be broad, and your clothes do not need to sparkle (if it is not your style), they just need to be YOU. Give us the honour of meeting you.
When you dress your body, decide to reintroduce yourself to us again just in case we have forgotten. Buy land for free in our minds that scream YOU. Be nothing but true to yourself.
Whether you are an hourglass, pear, or rectangle-shaped person or have a round, square, oblong, diamond or heart-shaped face, understand it is enough for what you need. You can dress it elegantly but you need to know what you have first.
It is okay if you do not like corporate wear or you are the King/Queen of glam or you just want to go Gothic. Whatever you wear, let it tell your story and honour your body.
